you know, I immediately thought of Tomita’s electronic reinterpretations of other works using early hardware - the little arpeggio leads especially.
… sorry, obviously I was refering to the miles davis chiptune album thing.
Okay, I’m going to leave like fifty more comments. Just kidding.
… just one more.
It occurs to me that if, in the midst of your life and your work and your whatnot, it would be easier to post smaller episodes like this, more often, and only commit to doing a big huge full-length episode once every other month or so, that might be a great way to compromise with all your hungry fans. This one was fun, and informative - I’m acquiring both the original and chiptune versions of the miles davis album as we speak.
okay, I’ll stop cluttering your comments. Thanks!
Hey Matt,
Thanks for the comments. The little episodes are nice sometimes, with this one being an exception because of the craziness of the day. I do really like the full episodes, though, just because they archive a bit better and are a more standalone kind of product.
BUT,I think that you have a good point with compromise. Instead of devoting a full episode to, say… an album review, or an interview, those could be small episodes. Maybe I will have some small episodes…

Also, thanks for commenting on this post, I think that something was messed with my iTunes XML or something, hence the VGDJ post and (if you got it early enough), the reposting of Episode 26. I don’t know what was happening, but thanks for sifting through the sand to find the treasure
PS: PLEASE buy both albums, “Kind of Blue” is one of the greatest albums ever made and “Bloop” is awesome too
Been a while since I’ve heard some Jazz since my last Jazz class. Some real good nostalgia drops in every time I listen to this post. Good Job.
I’m not sure what all the fuss is about using the chiptune as the “instrument” when arranging other works. I’m just curious as in to when people began to speak up about the album negatively. Was it done prior to the album’s release, or was it done right after? I’ll have to search around for that answer, but if there was some bad vibes coming only after the album’s release, then that’s just silly.
Just noticed that I referred to chiptun as “the chiptune”, and I’m not going to change it for great justice. Anyways, good post again.
hahahaha nice crispy voice bra
Marcos - I just finished writing it, so it should be up in a few days! Really solid commentary as usual, man - thanks for the posting and keep it up!
Parker - y’all is crasy, bra
see you in a bit!
