Good evening, listeners!
After a month of traveling and then a month of research and recording, Episode 22 of “Into the Score” has finally arrived! This month, we chronicle Ko Otani’s moving and emotional score to Sony’s “Shadow of the Colossus” for the PlayStation 2. In the episode, we look at it’s quasi-sequel “Ico” as well as the origins of the symphony, with the Baroque Era in particular!
Emotionally, this episode tries to unravel how the music fits into the game; but also, how the absence of music fits in as well. We look at the sparseness of the environment and the grandeur of each colossus - this is not an episode that you’ll want to miss!
For the dictation of which music plays for which cutscene and colossus, the file is down below!

Stay tuned for next month’s episode, studying Square’s 1997 PlayStation release of “Final Fantasy Tactics,” with a thrilling, epic and unbelievably skillful score by Hitoshi Sakimoto!
Cheers!
Kenley

What a great episode, I’m a fan of Shadow of the Colossus’s music. I’m really impressed with the presentation of your podcast, very informative and organized :). Keep up the excellent work and I’ll be sure to check back every now and then.
Bonus points for Revived Power, my favorite track on the whole album!
just throwing in: the sound at 45:52 through to the messiah clip that is next is much more quiet than anything else. I guess this is some misplaced sound shifter button, just telling so it goes noticed.
The contents are great.
VGTO - Thanks for the comment, Marcos! Keep up VGTOReviews.com, love what you’re doing!
maelkashishi - grargh! I know exactly where that is too! I thought I fixed it… appartently not! Well… maybe someday I’ll have a podcast that is error-free… ha… no

Hey Kenley, relitivly new listener here, but just thought I should let you know this was a Great episode! one of your best that I’ve listened to so far! You run a totally awesome show so keep up all the hard work. I know exactly all the work you do for the show cause I recently started a podcast of my own covering Kingdom Hearts (great game, and episode you did on that one) and your podcast is one of the many that got me starting to podcast myself.
Can’t wait for the next episode, Eric
