for some reasons, this episode and episode 4 doesnt work, on my download manager, it give me a password thingy and on normal download, it act like a dead link.
it sucks because i really enjoyed all the others (except the videos cause im too lazy to just sit around watching it)
continue the good job, I really enjoy the way you go in depth instead of just playing song and reviews
Hey Yannick! Thanks for the comment! Thankfully, Episode 4 has just been fixed! The link was incorrect (and it was really weird, but thankfully, it’s all good!)… ’tis fixed!
Please check it out! The “Chrono Triple Tech” is some of the best work of ITS and I’m really excited to hear your thoughts on it!
Thanks again!

Hi,
I’m wondering what was the deal with leitmotifs here? Actually I don’t hear anything much of them in the soundtrack- given that they ought to be rather obvious to actually work. Listening to the soundtrack, leitmotifs seem to play just about role in it, but rather strong character themes instead. Which is something to mention- emblematic music, expressing ‘metal’, ‘wood’ et al adequately through music. But Leitmotifs, ” written in such a way for us to develop an emotional connection with the character on a subconscious musical level”, you do not present. Am I missing something.
That said, the anaysis section is fine and easy to follow, and your sound examples for leitmotifs in european music are selected just fine.
So, thanks for the show.
Hey Onto,
It’s not exactly the concept of recurring character themes as leitmotifs that I’m trying to drill home, it’s that the score is unique to actually include different music for each character, which is the BASIS for leitmotifs. In most gaming before that, there was a generic “level theme”, but MM2 uses different music for each character’s level… so yeah, the connection is a little bit loose, but it seemed like a good avenue to teach what a “leitmotif” is.
In one of the more recent episodes (Ep18, I believe), the rock band called “The Megas” came onto the show and talked more about how they took each level theme, combined it with more directed lyrics and tried to really manifest each boss’s personality in their music. That one may help solidify the whole “leitmotif” concept.
You’re totally right about what a leitmotif is and how it would nooooormally be applied, but this just seemed like a good opportunity to show what leitmotifs are to the listener!
Thanks for checking through the archives! Love hearing your comments!

Your blog is interesting!
Keep up the good work!
Wow! Thank you very much!
I always wanted to write in my blog something like that. Can I take part of your post to my site?
Of course, I will add backlink?
